The Beaches

Close to Casa Doñano you can find some of the most spectacular maritime landscapes in Spain. The Playa de las Catedrales and the Os Castros beaches, both awarded with the "Q" prize for its quality, and also the excellent beaches Peñaronda and Aeralonga are located just a few kilometres from our house.

Ride across the estuary on the Francisco Launch

Taking a trip along the Eo Ria on Frank’s launch is not like a normal ride. Francisco, known as Frank among his friends, turns this ride into a magic adventure full of laughter and the culture of the estuary.

This is the route of the launch:

Leaving from Puerto de Porcillán in Ribadeo we go past the Fuerte de San Damián fort and the Cargadero de Mineral loading platform, we continue towards the Playa de San Román beach, in Asturias, going along to Figueras where we see the shipyards and the Castillo de los Condes de Trenos castle of Valencian origin. Nowadays this castle is being renovated to turn it into a hotel. We continue towards Castropol (which means high city, castro-pol), a beautiful corner and named exemplary village of Asturias in 1990. Crossing the estuary we will continue towards Ribadeo.

The rides always take place during the high tide or when it is not completely low yet, depending on the tide. Frank, our guide, will take us to unknown corners of the estuary, always entertaining us with music, stories and tales which due to his long experience as sailor make up a wide repertoire.
